Alibaug- Murud beaches a must for every Mumbaikar

And we pack our bags for a new adventure. For an adventure of sand and sea

The waves are calling us, yes we are headed to a beach adventure to Alibaug and Murud. Sitting in our car, our favourite music playing along, we were all set for a fun holiday when out of the blue suddenly our car broke down and we had a flat tire, then we had to spend an hour at a garage by the highway.

It was hot and humid and the holiday spirits were getting let down, but soon after we got back in our car, our spirit kicked started just as our car did. We were all set for some fun again, then after some time the stereo went off and we were left with no choice but to look outside enjoy the scenery and talk to each other and surprisingly that turned out to be the best thing about our trip.

I would say this trip bought us more close together. But if you dont have a wonderful partner to talk and pass your time then things might be difficult. Hehehe

Check out our another post – Car safety tips on things you should take care of in your vehicle before your trip begins.

Alibaug

We finally reached Alibaug but a little later than scheduled, the hotel and our room was better then what we had expected, we kept our bags in the hotel and headed to Ali Baugh beach. A nice and clean beach, people swimming in the sea, and enjoying water sports.

Overlooking the beach right in front of us in the middle of the sea was a Grand castle, “the kolaba fort” we took a speed boat ride to the Fort, low tides also allow horse carriage rides and you can even walk your way to the fort you want to.

The castle was in ruins with few people living inside. It was really rustic looking and made for some good photography.

Then we headed to Varsoli beach which was at a 5 minute walking distance from our hotel, this beach too was clean and tidy, here we indulged in some fun water sport activities, and also took a fun camel ride, the rest of the evening was spent lazing around in our comfortable hotel room, watching television, we ordered Lubaina’s favourite chinese food and it was really delicious.

Alibaug – Murud Stretch

The next morning we headed to murud, now the purpose of going to murud was to visit the Famous Janjira fort, but the journey from Alibaug to Murud gave us a lot of amazing surprises, along the way. On one side of the way were mountains and on the other were stretches of beach, also tiny bungalows amidst the jungle.

It was such a beautiful journey, we also discovered this amazing beach in kashid ” kashid beach” it was a clean white sand beach, with mountains overlooking it, tiny food stalls and hammocks, the beach made us feel like we were in Phuket.

Murud- Janjira

Next stop was the most amazing sea fort we ever witnessed, the “janjira” fort, one of only two forts in india that remain undefeated till date. The janjira fort stands tall in the middle of the sea, we had to take a rustic sail boat in order to reach the fort and we were absolutely mind blown by the fort.

Right from its camouflaged entrance gate to its 22 acre area in which it houses two sweet water lakes to its rustic buildings to all the canons and the marvellous architecture and engineering which went into making the janjira fort unconquerable.

The fortress was their source of power, strength and protection. No inducement could make them give it up, in the history of its existence, Janjira Fort withstood much battering – from the British, the Portuguese, even Shivaji Maharaj; but it stood unconquered through the centuries.

Every aspect of the fort took us back in time. The day was in indeed very fruitful.

The next morning while returning we stopped by Karnala Bird Sanctuary and later in afternoon, we returned home with sand in our shoes, and fond memories on our minds. Our trip to Alibaug was indeed full of amazing beach adventures.
